  • Cost: $1500 (includes: tuition, housing, meals, airport pick up, local transportation)
  • Cancellation Deadline: July 16, 2019 (50% refund)

Film, Creativity & Pop Culture

Lights, Camera, ACTION! These two weeks will be full of fun, creativity, and moments in the spotlight. Students will discover the science and magic behind film, and learn to analyze and appreciate the elements of film: visual, auditory and narrative elements. Students will spend time in Olympia, and Seattle exploring film, music, and pop culture and maybe even transform themselves into celebrities. Students will experience:

  • Every aspect of filmmaking from pre and post production
  • The Museum of Pop Culture
  • Olympia Film Society
  • State-of-the-art digital photography, audio and editing equipment

Puget Sound Nature Science

The Puget Sound Nature Science Camp is great for students interested in earth science, geology, astronomy and outdoor adventure! This program is designed to connect students to nature and science through this hands-on and inquiry based science camp by exploring the unique ecosystems of the Pacific Northwest. Students will experience:

  • Ecosystems of the Pacific Northwest
  • History, culture and local economy of the Pacific Northwest
  • Hike Mt Saint Helens and learn about this volcano science
  • Discover one of the most fascinating habitats – Rainforests!
  • Study the life in the oceans and other saltwater environments like estuaries and wetlands

Game Design

Get excited about designing, creating, and selling your game! The first week of this two week camp will be intensive English instruction (40 hours) focused on the video gaming terminology. The second week will be in game programming and design. Students will spend time on both the fundamentals of fun and design then transition into actual programming a real game in 2D. You will learn the Unity game engine and be ready to fully implement the game by the end of the camp. You will also learn how to market and make money doing game programming. The indie game scene is exciting and now is a great time to get your game out there for people to play!

This class will prepare you with the fundamentals you need to make a successful game. Students will:

  • Layout the design of a video game
  • Write the story upon which a game is designed
  • Utilize the three Cs: Character, Camera, and Control
  • Script functionality of game objects
  • Work with Sprites and Animation
  • Create a user interface for players
  • Utilize Unity’s physics engine
  • Implement a basic AI (Artificial Intelligence)
  • Understand platform targeting (e.g. iOS, Android, PC, PS4, Xbox One)
