  • Registration Opens: March 1, 2020
  • Payment Deadline: June 1, 2020
  • Cost: $1850 (includes: tuition, housing, meals, airport pick up, local transportation)
  • Cancellation Deadline: July 16, 2020 (50% refund)

Puget Sound Nature Science

The Puget Sound Nature Science Camp is great for students interested in earth science, geology, astronomy and outdoor adventure! This program is designed to connect students to nature and science through this hands-on and inquiry based science camp by exploring the unique ecosystems of the Pacific Northwest. Students will experience:

  • Ecosystems of the Pacific Northwest
  • History, culture and local economy of the Pacific Northwest
  • Hike Mt Saint Helens and learn about this volcano science
  • Discover one of the most fascinating habitats – Rainforests!
  • Study the life in the oceans and other saltwater environments like estuaries and wetlands

Day 1: Arrive SEATAC International Airport (transportation to Olympia provided)

Day 2: Host Family Day

Day 3: Introduction to SPSCC (orientation; campus tour; welcome lunch; meet instructors)

Day 4: English Language Instruction 9:00 am-12:00 pm, Ecosystems of the Pacific Northwest Lesson 1:00-5:00 pm

Day 5: English Language Instruction 9:00 am-12:00 pm; History, Culture and Economy of the Pacific Northwest Lesson 1:00-5:00 pm

Day 6: English Language Instruction 9:00 am-12:00 pm; Squaxin Island Tribe Museum 1:00-5:00 pm

Day 7: English Language Instruction 9:00 am-12:00 pm; Geology of the Pacific Northwest Lesson 1:00-5:00 pm

Day 8: Learn about the science of volcanos, Mt. Saint Helens Day Trip 8:00 am-8:00 pm

Day 9: Host Family Day

Day 10: English Language Instruction 9:00 am-12:00 pm; Study the life in the ocean lesson 1:00-5:00 pm

Day 11: English Language Instruction 9:00 am-12:00 pm; Marine Biology Field Trip (Nisqually Reach Nature Center) 1:00-5:00 pm

Day 12: English Language Instruction 9:00 am-12:00 pm; Plants and Animals Lesson 1:00-5:00 pm

Day 13: Learn about estuaries and wetlands, Temperate Rain Forest Day Trip, 9:00 am-5:00 pm

Day 14: Farewell Ceremony & Return Home
