2016 Research Paper Contest Winners

Research Paper Contest Winners

Mykala Davis, from Jen Berney's Eng. 102 class, won the library's research contest this year. Mykala wrote about measures each of us can take to minimize our personal impact on climate change, such as planting a garden. Mykala won a $100 Best Buy gift card; and Jen won a $10 Barnes & Noble coffee card.

Second-place winner Sierra Mickael wrote about the fragrance industry and how artificial scents affect our health. Sierra wrote her paper for Kevin Asman's Eng. 102 class. She won a $75 Best Buy gift card.

Third-place Winner Erin Smith wrote about stereotypes in video games and how raising awareness might bring about change. Erin was a student in Chris Dorn's Eng. 102 class. Erin won a $50 Best Buy gift card.

The librarians who judged this year's contest noted the high quality of sources contestants used. Very few sketchy websites made it onto works cited lists.

Congratulations to the winners and their instructors!
