Hometown Hero Program connects community with student athletes

Just months after its best season in school history, Clipper Men’s Basketball launches a new program to root student athletes in the Thurston County community.  Partnering with businesses and members of the community, Clipper Athletics anticipates that the Hometown Hero Program will help student athletes from outside the Thurston area make local relationships that encourage athletic and academic success.

Clipper Tyler Watts earns national honorable mention

  • Sophomore basketball player earns honorable mention for Scholar Athlete of the Year from National Association of Two Year College Athletic Administrators
  • Watts also earns the Art Feiro Athlete Academic Leader of the Year Award from the Northwest Athletic Conference
  • Watts also won multiple defensive honors this season

SPSCC Hosts GNAC-PacWest Conference Crossover

South Puget Sound Community College is playing host for the Great Northwest Athletic Conference-PacWest Conference Crossover Men’s Basketball Tournament Friday, Nov. 13 and Saturday, Nov. 14 at the SPSCC Gymnasium.

The tournament, which features Saint Martin’s University and Western Oregon University from the GNAC, and Fresno Pacific University and Point Loma Nazarene University of the PacWest Conference, tips off at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13. The first game will be between Point Loma and Western Oregon. At 7 p.m., Fresno Pacific and the Saints tip off.
