The Clipper community celebrated a record breaking basketball game last night against Lower Columbia College when sophomore Savannah McGill broke the NWAC Career Rebound Record with 784 boards.
The 6'1" forward from River Ridge High School broke the season record last year when she recorded 456 boards for the 2015-16 season, averaging 15.7 rebounds per game. This season, McGill is averaging 20.25 rebounds per game with a highest game record of 29 boards on Dec. 17.
The previous career record holder was Lane Community College’s Mercedes Alexander with a total of 783 rebounds between 2007 and 2008.
By the end of last night’s name, McGill hit 798 rebounds and they will continue to accumulate over the remainder of the season. The final NWAC rebound record will publish in early spring.
