*Final guest of the 2015-16 season
*Multi-talented dancer and performer visits May 19
South Puget Sound Community College welcomes performance artist and dancer Sheetal Gandhi as the next performer in its Artist & Lecture Series. Gandhi will appear at the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts on Thursday, May 19, at 7:30 p.m.
Gandhi, also a singer, choreographer, actor and director, has seen her career span genres and disciplines. She’ll bring her acclaimed solo dance-theater work, Bahu-Beti-Biwi (Daughter-in-law, Daughter, Wife), which wraps North Indian music traditions and family characters into a contemporary tour de force that glides between humorous portraiture and active resistance.
Tickets for Sheetal Gandhi are $10 for general admission, (which includes a $3 Washington Center service fee), and the event is free to all SPSCC staff, faculty and students. Tickets will be available online at OlyTix.org or by calling The Washington Center for the Performing Arts box office at (360) 753-8586.
More about the SPSCC Artist & Lecture Series
The SPSCC Artist and Lecture Series brings a diverse group of distinguished scholars, activists and artists under a common theme: “Reflections.” For 2015-2016, we celebrate the power of identity in our sense of self, our sense of “we”, and in our sense of place. Our presenters are recognized nationally or internationally for their work. Our hope is that they will initiate courageous and purposeful discussion within our community concerning critical and contemporary issues. All events are free to students, faculty and staff, and free or at a nominal cost to the public.
