Beginning Jan. 1, 2019, Building 31 will close to the public.
The gymnasium will remain open only for SPSCC basketball practices and games while teams finish the 2018-19 season. Games will remain open to the public. Visit Clipper Athletics webpage >.
Why is Bldg. 31 closing?
In 2017, SPSCC students voted to create a Health and Wellness Center at the SPSCC Olympia Campus; the Board of Trustees approved the student proposal and construction is set to begin in early 2019. The new building will be an expansion of the current gymnasium (Bldg. 31) and Building 33, which is not currently in use. The building will remain closed during construction, including the gymnasium, weight room, cardio room, locker rooms, classrooms, offices, and other spaces.
Is there a recreational space for students while Bldg. 31 is closed?
Students have free access to The Evergreen State College’s Constantino Recreation Center (CRC).
Is there a recreational space for staff and faculty while Bldg. 31 is closed?
Full time staff and faculty have free access to The Strong Center. They do not have access to Evergreen’s CRC.
Where are the Bldg. 31 staff moving?
Athletics staff offices will be relocated after basketball season during the construction project. Their new location will be announced at that time.
When will the building reopen?
The Health and Wellness Center is set to open in summer of 2020.
