It's Now Easier than Ever to Tour South Puget Sound Community College

When beginning classes at South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC), navigating the campus comprised of almost 6,000 students can feel a little daunting. The college is working to provide multiple opportunities to acquaint new and prospective students with the campus, as well as the college’s many pathways to success. To that end, they are hosting a variety of guided campus tours, college info sessions, and are debuting a new student-created college tour app to accommodate every preference and schedule.

At the Spring Arts Walk, numerous South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) creative divisions will coalesce into a unique installation and two-day event in the historical Olympia venue, Ben Moore’s. Percival Place at Ben Moore’s will include art pieces from SPSCC faculty, performances from SPSCC theater and music students, bites provided by the Culinary Arts Program and contribution from the school’s Craft Brewing and Distilling Program.

YMCA’s Y-Care Makes Yelm’s High School 21+ Program Possible for Parents

For a lot of parents, high school graduation is a memory – perhaps a distant one, at that. But for 20.7 percent of Washington State adults, that memory doesn’t exist. They never walked with their class or earned their diploma. Now, years have passed and the possibility of returning to school may seem increasingly unlikely, especially with children to raise.

Last November, graduates of Yelm Community School’s inaugural High School 21+ program were formally recognized by district officials. It was, for many, a moment to take in the extensive collaboration between the district, South Puget Sound Community College, Yelm Timberland Library and the South Sound YMCA. And for those that graduated, it was a moment to take pride in and celebrate.

Community and technical college students recognized at Transforming Lives ceremony

The Washington State Association of College Trustees (ACT) honored 34 community and technical college students Monday night at its annual Transforming Lives awards ceremony. The annual ceremony recognizes current and former students of community and technical colleges whose lives were transformed by attending their college.
