SPSCC announced last Friday the two recipients of the college’s 2021 Outstanding Student Award, Jayde Grams and Gal Keren-Aviram.

Jayde and Gal were selected for their outstanding achievements and contributions to SPSCC in the areas of academics, performance, and service to the college or the community, as well as their overall personal growth and development throughout their time at SPSCC.

Jayde Grams earned a 3.96 GPA while earning her Associate in Arts degree and balancing life as a student-athlete. The three words she would use to describe herself are “determined, kind, and compassionate.” During her time at SPSCC, she helped with prospective student outreach and SPSCC Foundation events, and has been dedicated to the wider Olympia community through the Olympia Special Olympics and Relay for Life. Jayde plans to transfer to a university where she would like to continue playing volleyball and to further her education with a degree in accounting or teaching.

Gal Keren-Aviram earned a 3.95 GPA while earning the highly competitive Associate Degree in Nursing. The three words she would use to describe herself are “compassionate, dedicated, and inquisitive.” In addition to being a nursing student, Gal is a part-time professor at SPSCC and supports her fellow students by helping them study for exams and offering advice. Gal plans to serve the local community as a nurse. She shared that, “I entered SPSCC when I was new to the area and the college was my gateway into the local community. I felt supported and inspired by my professors, peers, and college staff.”

Gal and Jayde were recognized during the June 18 virtual commencement ceremony, and are also featured on the graduation 2021 website. Additionally, both students were awarded a $500 scholarship from the SPSCC Foundation.
