SPSCC welcomes five new full-time faculty members

This year, SPSCC welcomes five outstanding tenure-track faculty members to its already stellar team of full-time faculty. Each bring a new perspective and expertise along with diverse backgrounds, education, and life experience.

Richard Dahlen

Adult Basic Education - IBEST Professor, Transition Studies
Richard Dahlen has accepted the tenure-track position of Adult Basic Education–IBEST Professor in the Transition Studies division effective September 16, 2019. Richard received his Associate of Science degree from South Puget Sound Community College and his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from The Evergreen State College. Richard has worked for the college since July 2012 and previously served as Learning Resource Center Administrator for LSS East and as adjunct Mathematics Professor.

Chandra Miller-Starks

Psychology Professor, Social Science and Business
Chandra Miller-Starks has accepted the tenure-track position of Psychology Professor in the Social Science and Business division effective September 16, 2019. Chandra received her Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education and her Master of Science degree in Community Counseling from University of Central Arkansas.

Christopher Ramos

Nursing Professor, Natural and Applied Sciences
Christopher Ramos has accepted the tenure-track position of Nursing Professor in the Natural and Applied Sciences division effective September 16, 2019. Christopher received his Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from The University of Michigan and his Master of Science degree in Nursing from Shenandoah University.

Kamara Taylor

Psychology Professor, Social Science and Business
Kamara Taylor has accepted the tenure-track position of Psychology Professor in the Social Science and Business division effective September 16, 2019. Kamara received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and her Master of Arts degree in Political Science from Northeastern Illinois University.

Julia Trude

Mathematics Professor, Natural and Applied Sciences
Julia Trude has accepted the tenure track position of Mathematics Professor in the Natural and Applied Science division effective September 16, 2019. Julia received her Associates degree in Mathematics from Santa Rosa Junior College, her Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics from University of Oregon and her Master of Science degree in Mathematics for Teachers from Portland State University.


SPSCC also welcomes three one-year faculty members for the 2019-20 academic year.

Liona Burnham

English Professor, Humanities and Communication
Liona Burnham has accepted the temporary position of English Professor in the Humanities and Communication division effective September 16, 2019. Liona received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Journalism from Whitworth University and her Master of Arts degree in English from Western Washington University. Liona has worked part time as adjunct English professor for the college since September 2015.

Amir Hassan

English Professor, Humanities and Communication
Amir Hassan has accepted the temporary position of English Professor in the Humanities and Communication division effective September 16, 2019. Amir received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Writing from University of Washington and his Master of Arts degree in Rhetoric and Composition from Washington State University. Amir has worked part time as adjunct English professor for the college since September 2017.

Jessica Kissler

Psychology Professor, Social Science and Business
Jessica Kissler has accepted the temporary position of Psychology Professor in the Social Science and Business Division effective September 16, 2019. Jessica received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Spanish and her Master of Science degree in Experimental Psychology from Washington State University. Jessica has worked part-time as adjunct Psychology Professor for the college since August 2016.
