Please welcome Daniela Suarez who will serve as the SBCTC Legislative intern for the 2018 legislative session. She is a 2nd year student at South Puget Sound Community College as well as the Senator of Legislative Affairs for her college. She is pursuing an Associates in Arts Degree and will be completing her degree in the spring of 2018. She plans on transferring to a 4 year university to complete her Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Political Science.
Two students from SPSCC were awarded scholarships at the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Banquet on Jan. 13, 2018. Leslie Vazquez and Austin Escalera were honored by the Thurston Group of Washington State for their success in academics at SPSCC and beyond that aligns with the values of the Thurston Group.
SPSCC has partnered with Providence Health & Services to offer a fully funded one-month direct pathway to work for ten future nursing assistants.
Providence Mother Joseph Care Center will select ten aspiring Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to receive a scholarship that will fully fund their education, supplies, and certification costs. Successful students will have the opportunity to be hired by the care center upon graduation and certification.
Financial aid awards for summer quarter at South Puget Sound Community College will be disbursed by July 5, 2017, due to federal disbursement requirements and the delay in the approval of the budget by the Washington State Legislature.
In order to accommodate students receiving summer aid, the College is committed to not dropping students from classes for non-payment as we finalize student accounts.
South Puget Sound Community College will celebrate more than 1,400 graduates from over 50 degree and certificate programs at Olympia High School's Ingersoll Stadium on Friday evening. The College's 52nd commencement ceremony will be held at 7:00 p.m. on June 16, 2017. This year’s faculty address will be delivered by History Professor Eric Chase and the student speaker for the event will be Nikita Salas.
