The Westmont men's basketball team has signed two transfers and four freshmen ahead of the 2019-20 season, announced head coach John Moore. Hunter Sipe of Olympia, Washington; Justin Bessard of Calabasas; Jared Brown of La Palma; Solomon Davis of Corona; Noah Fernando of Northridge; and Chase Webb of San Marcos will join the Warriors, who will look to reach the NAIA National Tournament for the sixth straight season.
Sipe is transferring to Westmont from South Puget Sound Community College, where he averaged 12.4 points per game and 6.4 rebounds per game during his two years there. This past season, the 6-2 guard was named First Team All-Western Region after scoring 14.1 points per game and averaging 7.8 rebounds per game. The 39.3% 3-point shooter also earned Western Region Defensive MVP honors this past season.
"I am most looking forward to being a part of a winning culture and being surrounded by a group of guys who live to compete," said Sipe, who was First Team All-Narrows League at Olympia High School. "I am excited to win games, and also become involved with the community through the basketball team.
"The community at Westmont is so involved with athletics and provides the 'at home' feeling, which is really important for me being an out-of-state player. Also, I really enjoy how Westmont holds you accountable for your academics and provides the necessary tools for you to find success in the classroom."
"I think we get great leadership and experience in Hunter," said Moore. "Hunter is a guy who will help define our defense. He will be a very good leader for us. I've heard nothing but good things about him as a dynamic leader in his community college program, so our expectations are high for that."

The Warriors begin their season on Monday, October 21 with a home game at 7:30 p.m. against Corban (Ore.).
