I feel the many years I have spent in the customer service industry has set me up wonderfully for my position in Outreach here at SPSCC. Being a current student myself, I understand how intimidating it can be to take that first step in beginning your college career. Helping people has always been a passion of mine, and I’m so excited to have the opportunity to help people from all different walks of life get on their road to a brighter future.

What are the three most important things you would tell a new student attending SPSCC in their first quarter?

1.)    The number 1 thing I wish I would have been more on top of when I started college was knowing the deadlines for financial aid, registration and advising. Find out when they are and read them often so you do not forget, this will make things go way smoother!

2.)    The next thing is to get here EARLY for parking! Try to get here before 8am, even if you don’t have class till later, you can always work on homework in our computer labs in building 34 or in the library in building 22, to burn time before classes.

3.)    The last thing I would tell a new student would be to get familiar with all the resources our college has to offer. We have a  writing lab and a math lab located in building 22 where you can get help one on one with a tutor and you should utilize as soon as you start feeling overwhelmed with homework, and don’t procrastinate.
