What is the Students of Color Conference?

The Students of Color Conference (SOCC) offers educational workshops designed to help students lead in a diverse community. In addition, students participate in a group discussion of issues that affect their own identity group. Students will be able to network with other student leaders from Washington State colleges.

These conferences are meant to enhance and enrich our students’ learning experience. Only currently enrolled SPSCC students are eligible to apply. While students of color are encouraged to apply, these conferences are open to any student that demonstrates strong ally-ship and a commitment to diversity issues on campus.

Students need to prepare themselves in order to make the most of their conference experience (by attending Brown Bag Chats, the DLI Certificate series, coming to the DEIC and engaging in conversations regarding underrepresented populations, and attending DEIC events). Lastly, students are encouraged to participate in an educational project after attending the conference so they can "give back" to the campus community.
