Communication Studies

As technology advances, the global community becomes more connected – and your communication skills become even more important. Become a public relations specialist, or work as an editor with the media giants that tie the world together.

As a student of Communication Studies, you will gain skills in public speaking, mass media, and multicultural communications – skills which transfer to a broad range of careers and provide advantages in personal relationships.

What’s Different at SPSCC?

Contribute to the student newspaper. Students produce their own newspaper and online news source, The Sounds. Students work with a journalism advisor in all roles of production – editors, reporters, photographers, and advertising representatives. Offering both paid and volunteer positions, The Sounds is an invaluable opportunity to sink your teeth into real-world writing experience.

Study abroad. Nothing emphasizes communication more than immersing yourself in another language and culture. SPSCC’s Study Abroad program connects you to several scholarship and grant opportunities, allowing you to study abroad at a lower cost than you might find at a four-year institution.

Take your drive beyond the classroom. Whether you’re working for the student newspaper or joining one of the student clubs and organizations, SPSCC offers several opportunities to put your talents and passions to use in the college community.
