English

Do you have a story to tell? Do you value the stories of others? Take your passion for the written word into a career in marketing or editing in a variety of fields, or hone your creative side and become a published author or poet.

English courses at SPSCC will help you express yourself in your college and professional career, encourage your creativity, and emphasize the value of communication, understanding, and diverse perspectives.

What’s Different at SPSCC?

Publish your work. The Percival Review is SPSCC’s annual award-winning literary arts journal filled with contributions of writing, art, and music from current students. Student panels select included works and student editors create the layout and produce the journal with the guidance of a faculty advisor. Available freely around campus, the Percival Review has won awards for both content and design.

Contribute to the student newspaper. Students produce their own newspaper and online news source, The Sounds. Students work with a journalism advisor in all roles of production – editors, reporters, photographers, and advertising representatives. Offering both paid and volunteer positions, The Sounds is an invaluable opportunity to sink your teeth into real-world writing experience.

Meet distinguished creators. Our Artist & Lecture Series brings scholars, outspoken activists, and passionate artists to speak and perform on campus each year.
