Artist statement

I make quilts, textile art, watercolor paintings and paper collage. I like the constraint of limited materials, like thrifted fabrics and found papers, and am always on the lookout for scraps for creative use. Likewise my ideas for work come from fragments in poems or articles that touch on the human relationship with nature, aging, technology and consumerism. My art often shows evidence of handwork and imperfections. Quilting especially is a form of meditation and improvisation for me, a counterbalance to working at the computer and being a parent.
