Liza Brenner is a visual artist whose work consists of figures, layered imagery, and narrative elements to explore personal and collective memory. She earned her BFA in Drawing and BS in Communication from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, followed by an MFA in Painting and an MA in Art Education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania

My work explores the space between the surreal and the everyday, where ordinary andthe mundane becomes extraordinary. In my still lifes, I often take on an aerial perspective, allowing simple arrangements to unfold as landscapes of shifting color and form. The objects I choose often speak with one another, opening a narrative that invites the viewer to step inside. I approach landscapes with the same thought process. Clouds become vast, fabric-like forms that drift and loom over settings that are at once humble and sublime.
While working from life grounds my practice, I sometimes turn to digital tools to merge images and ideas, creating compositions that lean toward the surreal. Each painting begins with my own search, but its meaning is never fixed. I leave space for viewers to bring their own interpretations, completing the story in ways that are personal and unexpected.
