Robert Cloughley is the ceramics program coordinator and senior lecturer at the Dunedin School of Art, Dunedin, New Zealand. He has been working with clay for about 30 years, and during that time his own practice has been predominantly focused on ceramic sculpture, with thrown work on the side. His work has included installation, performance, collaboration, and mixed media. Rob has been interested in creating sculpture that tells a story of liminality, and the simulacra of industry that might be organic, remnants of a post-industrial age.

A barrel of fun

Maybe not so much fun for some these days

With leaky holes, and leaky ideas

Crusty bits n crabby drips

Was this useful, once upon a time, or again?

The driving wind creeping through the slots

The sea crashing

Now we are barreling along in the wrong direction
