South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) is honored to host the Korean American Artists Association of Washington State (KAAW) Exhibition From Hwagae Market to Pike Place Market, curated by Kellis Parlett, at the Leonor R. Fuller Gallery from September 14 to October 16, 2026. The opening reception will be held on Friday, September 18, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Markets are symbols of exchange and community. Hwagae Market and Pike Place Market, though distant in time and place, both embody harmony, preservation, and community spirit. Presented by the KAAW, this exhibition expresses immigrant memories and identities through art, sharing stories of life and journey through the spirit of the marketplace.

About Curator Kellis Parlett
Kellis Parlett is an artist from Seoul, South Korea, who has dedicated her life to the exploration and creation of both modern and traditional art forms. She attended an arts high school, where she studied traditional East Asian painting while also gaining experience in painting, sculpture, and design. Building upon this foundation, she pursued a degree in Integrated Arts at Kaywon University of Art & Design, specializing in video art and expanding the boundaries of artistic expression. After graduating, she obtained certifications in child art instruction and art therapy, further deepening her understanding of the role of art in personal development and well-being.
Throughout her career, she has worked at a prestigious art center in Seoul, where she curated exhibitions, collaborated with artists, and helped shape immersive artistic experiences. Her extensive experience in exhibition curation allows her to seamlessly blend contemporary and classical artistic elements, continuously pushing the limits of artistic innovation.
