The Leonor R. Fuller Gallery Hosts the Southwest Washington Juried Exhibition

The 2024 Southwest Washington Juried Exhibition comes to the Leonor R. Fuller Gallery from July 8 to Aug. 16, 2024, and will be juried by Susan Christian. The opening reception will be held on Thursday, July 11, from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

The Southwest Washington Juried Exhibition is organized by the Leonor R. Fuller Gallery at the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts and serves area artists by providing a high-quality exhibition opportunity that promotes the region’s creative identity. Artists working in all media and residing in Clark, Cowlitz, Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, Pierce, Skamania, Thurston, or Wahkiakum counties are invited to submit an entry for consideration.

About Guest Juror Susan Christian

Susan Christian brings an East Coast panache and a Pacific Northwest sensibility to this year’s Southwest Washington Juried Exhibition. Susan’s artistic career is marked by experience and education beginning at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, earning a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the Cranbrook Academy of Art and exhibiting works with the Boston Visual Artists Union at many East Coast venues including the Boston Museum of Fine Art. 

As an Olympia resident, Susan is a former art faculty in painting and printmaking at the Evergreen State College, South Puget Sound Community College, Centralia College, and a visiting artist within a variety of established academic programs within the community. Susan has exhibited work locally at the Childhood’s End Gallery since 1976, Salon Refu which she owned and operated from 2013 to 2021 in Downtown Olympia, and the LGM Gallery. Susan is currently a member of the Union Art Cooperative Seattle. Of this Guest Juror appointment, Susan shared, “I think I am good at looking at art and listening to artists. I am thrilled by the quality and energy of the SPSCC arts community and leadership. We are lucky to have this strong program at the Leo Gallery.”
