The SPSCC Foundation celebrates a remarkable gift: two new endowments by Bron and Tuula Lindgren in support of students entering the automotive trades. For Bron, former owner of Bron’s Automotive, this gift reflects both his personal journey and a deep commitment to helping students succeed.
Bron’s connection to SPSCC began with an evening course on Bosch L-JETRONIC fuel injection systems. At the time, he was a hobbyist mechanic working odd jobs. With strong mentorship and a small amount of tuition assistance, Bron earned his automotive degree in just two years while working full time.
His career quickly gained momentum. He spent ten years as a line mechanic in local dealerships, followed by another decade at Intercity Transit, where he helped build their automotive division. In 2000, Bron returned to SPSCC to take business and accounting classes, preparing to launch a long-held dream.
Bron’s Automotive opened in 2002 out of his garage and soon outgrew that space. Around the same time, the loss of Bron’s father led to reflection about family values and community involvement. “My parents were always involved in the community and were blessed in many ways in their lives,” he says. That example inspired Bron and his wife Tuula to deepen their commitment to service and giving back.
Their endowments for the SPSCC Automotive Program reflect that shared vision. “I have huge respect for people that want to enter the trades and don’t mind a little hard work,” Bron says. “I remember my struggles financially in the early years. I love the auto repair trade, and Tuula and I want to help others who are entering this trade. We hope this endowment will help with somebody’s success in life.”
Thanks to the Lindgrens’ generosity, future automotive students will benefit from scholarships and tool grants for years to come.
