South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) is proud to be named Best Community College in ShowCase Magazine’s Best of 2025. Each year, ShowCase invites readers to vote for the organizations that make a lasting impact in the South Sound region. SPSCC’s recognition reflects the college’s commitment to excellence, student success, and meaningful engagement with the community. This local recognition comes just months after SPSCC was recognized as the number two community college in the United States by the Aspen Institute for Community College Excellence.

“Being named Best Community College by ShowCase Magazine for the second year in a row is an incredible honor,” said Dr. Timothy Stokes, President of SPSCC. “This back-to-back recognition speaks volumes about the dedication of our faculty, staff, and students. It’s a powerful affirmation of our mission to deliver exceptional education and foster a welcoming, inclusive community where everyone can thrive.”

SPSCC combines small class sizes, world-class faculty and staff, and modern facilities to complete the college’s mission of amplifying student success.

Each year, SPSCC serves more than 5,000 students across many goals and Pathways, including degree-seeking students, high schoolers, veterans, international students, and underemployed workers. The college sees thousands of students each year land a new job, learn a new skill, earn a degree, and pursue exciting opportunities from its campuses in Olympia and Lacey, as well as in classes online.

SPSCC’s core themes of student achievement, equity, and learning and engagement are the heart of the work completed by its departments and faculty. The college has been serving the city of Olympia and its surrounding communities for more than sixty years.
