South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) is proud to announce that alumnus Steven Gang and Nursing Professor Shana L. Parker have been honored with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Students and The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Educators, respectively. These prestigious recognitions celebrate the compassion, dedication, and excellence that define the nursing profession.
Steven Gang, a recent graduate of SPSCC’s Nursing program, was selected by faculty for his remarkable growth and embodiment of the program’s core values. Steven consistently demonstrated a growth mindset, compassion, and effective communication, while upholding excellence with integrity, accountability, and respect for others. Steven’s peers appreciated his ability to advocate for patients, empower those around him, and bring humor and warmth to clinical settings.
Shana L. Parker, a respected educator and Registered Nurse, was nominated by a student who praised her for being not only highly knowledgeable and experienced, but also for her accessible teaching style, genuine care for student success, and calm, patient demeanor. Shana’s sense of humor, humility, and commitment to lifelong learning serve as a powerful model for future nurses. Her ability to foster curiosity and openness to new knowledge has left a lasting impact on her students.
