The South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) Theatre Collective presents Amélie at the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts Main Stage from May 17 to May 26, 2024.
Based on the beloved French film, Amélie follows the story of an extraordinary young woman who creates waves of joy and mayhem through her imagination and acts of kindness. When a chance at love presents itself, Amélie embarks on a journey of self-discovery, learning to speak from the heart and embracing the risks that come with finding true happiness.
The cast includes Jesse Morrow, Jamie Flynn Keenan-deVargas, Mike Gregory, Sara St. Clair, Nathan Groome, Ed Thorpe, Christine Goode, Madeleine Roy, Catherine Ricalde, and Naliya Rubin, as well as SPSCC students Alex Goodrich, Adrian Roberto, and Juliann Boling.
“Translating the magic of the film to the stage is both challenging and exhilarating. Our cast, technical director, stage manager, crew, music director, musicians, choreographer, costume, projection, sound, set, properties and puppet designers have all contributed to a theatrical whimsy that emulates the title character’s spirit,” said Dr. Lauren Love, Drama Professor at SPSCC. “I am continuously in awe of the talent and dedication of the artists with whom I am privileged to collaborate, and so grateful for their vision, love for the theater, and kindness.”
Admission is a suggested $15 donation at the door. SPSCC students, staff, and faculty are free. More information, including performance dates and times, is available on the college’s Arts & Entertainment Calendar.
