South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) will celebrate this year’s 1,314 graduates at the 2022 Commencement Ceremony on June 11 at 10 a.m. outside at The Evergreen State College's Red Square. The ceremony will also be livestreamed on SPSCC's YouTube channel.

For its 57th commencement ceremony, the college will award 1,207 associate degrees and 273 certificates to the graduating class. Additionally, the college will award 131 GED® awards and 120 high school diplomas. Over one-fourth of the students are graduating with honors (3.75 GPA and above) and 416 graduates are part of the Running Start program.

The ceremony will begin with a welcome from SPSCC President Dr. Timothy Stokes and the performance of the alma mater by the Chamber Singers. Faculty and staff will share their messages with the graduating class followed by the student speaker and the presentation of the 2022 Outstanding Student awards. Following the presentation of class and diplomas, the ceremony will close with a congratulations from Dr. Michelle Andreas and the ceremonial turning of the tassel.

This year’s student speaker, Aalijah M.U. Johnson, will speak about the new beginnings that graduation presents while recognizing the hard work it took along the way. “I’ve learned that the most rewarding journeys tend to be the ones you least expected,” she said. Her speech reminds graduates that, while life may not always go as planned, there is always something gained from every experience.

Parking, event information, and more can be found on the Commencement webpage. The ceremony program can also be found online.

Graduates, family, and friends can help share the success and achievements of SPSCC's class of 2022 on social media with hashtag #spscc.
