Test & Drill - SPSCC Alert 9/19

By SPSCC Staff

September 19, 2025

UPDATE 10:30 A.M. 9/19

When the threat has ended, you will receive an “All Clear” or similar message. This message will include any specific instructions from law enforcement, such as unlocking and unbarricading spaces and escorting folks out of buildings. This is a good time to contact your supervisor and/or colleagues.

If this were a real event, we would work to provide follow-up information so you can better understand the incident.

END OF DRILL

  • Technology problems? If you were on campus for this drill and did not see an alert on your area’s digital screens, or on a computer connected to the SPSCC network, please submit an IT HelpDesk request.
  • Opt-in friends & family. All employees and students are automatically opted in, but you can manage your preferences by logging into SPSCC Alerts with your ClipperID. Family and friends who would also like to receive text alerts can text spsccalerts to 67283.
  • Take an ALICE training. If you haven’t yet, consider signing up for an upcoming ALICE training through the Campus Safety page.
  • Have feedback? You can share other feedback with Fred Creek or Kati Sagawa.

Thank you for participating in this important safety exercise. Our next system test will be the Great ShakeOut earthquake drill on Oct. 16 and 10:16 a.m.

UPDATE 10:15 A.M. 9/19

Those who evacuated:

  • Contact your supervisor to inform them of your location.
  • Continue to monitor updates via alert messaging and the SPSCC website.

Those who locked down:

  • Once you have controlled your room, spread out away from doors and windows—don’t huddle in a corner. Be ready to move, distract, and control the intruder if necessary.
  • When it is safe, call 911.

During this update, we would provide any updates we can, such as law enforcement activity, the location of the threat, or other relevant details related to your safety.

We will provide another update in 15 minutes.

ORIGINAL MESSAGE 10 A.M. 9/19

SPSCC is currently conducting an Active Violent Threat drill and alert system test. This drill will end at 10:30 a.m. on 9/19. We encourage you to participate, whether you are on or off campus.

If this was a real event, you should evacuate if safe to do so or lock down and control your room.

  • During an active shooter or violent incident, try to evacuate if possible.
  • If evacuation is not possible, lock down the space you are in. Lock the door if able, use desks, chairs, or tables to barricade entrances, turn off lights, and remain quiet.
  • Exterior / card reader doors will be locked automatically.

We aim to provide updates every 15 minutes during these events.
