South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) would like to congratulate student-athletes Luke Fenner and Emilee Anderson for qualifying for the 2025 Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) Golf Championships in Yakima, Wash.

The championship tournament will decide the overall league champion, and individual players will have a chance to take home medals for their performance. The NWAC Golf Championships will take place from May 18 to 19 at the Apple Tree Resort Golf Course. Tee times will be a 12:30 p.m. shotgun tee time on Sunday, May 18, and an 8 a.m. split tee time on Monday, May 19.

In his final year as a Clipper, Fenner really established himself as the anchor of the team, finishing every league match tournament as the top golfer for the Clipper Men’s Golf squad.

Fenner also set the tone early in the season, winning the Columbia Basin College league match back in October. Fenner finished the tournament with an even par finish, shooting 72 both days for a 144 gross score. This was a big accomplishment for SPSCC as Fenner became the first golfer in the college’s history to win a tournament.

The NWAC took notice of how well Fenner played all season and rewarded him with a nod to the NWAC All-League Second Team, becoming the first Clipper golfer to be bestowed an all-star honor.

Clipper Golf Head Coach Russell Olsen spoke highly about the sophomore golfer, “As the first commit to our golf program, it is very fitting that Luke will be representing SPSCC Golf for the second time at the NWAC Championships. After winning the first league event of the year, Luke maintained a high level of play, and I look forward to what he can accomplish in his final tournament as a Clipper.”

Clipper Women’s Golf athlete Emilee Anderson had a big task bestowed upon her, as she became the sole representative for the women’s program when the latter half of the season began. SPSCC Golfer Emilee Anderson swings on her opening drive during the SPSCC Spring Invitational.

Despite a slow start, Anderson found her groove and has been playing her best golf of the season as of late. In her first year as a Clipper, Anderson already has the distinction of the best-ever women’s golf finish in college history. In the Spokane league match, she notched a 98 in the first round and 88 in the second round for a gross score of 186.

Olsen had nothing but praise when he spoke about Anderson’s season, “I am very proud of Emilee’s commitment to improvement throughout the season, and that shows in her earning a spot in the NWAC Championships. Emilee has been playing her best golf of the season in recent weeks, and I am excited to see her compete among the best players in the conference.”
