Tuition and fees at SPSCC typically cost 50 to 70% less than a 4-year university. That is also why many U.S. citizens also choose to attend community college and then transfer to earn a bachelor’s degree at a university.

Scholarships and On-campus Employment

International students can apply for SPSCC scholarships from $500 to $4,000. When it’s time to transfer to a 4-year university, some schools offer a special scholarship based on GPA when transferring from SPSCC.

Once you have arrived on campus, you are also eligible to apply to work at the College.  On-campus employment helps you gain professional and leadership experience outside of the classroom and earn extra money.

*Tuition and fees are due every quarter term after you register for classes and fees are subject to change based on classes. You can pay by credit card, cashier’s check, money order, wire transfer, personal check (from a U.S. bank) or traveler’s check. You can also set up a plan to pay tuition in monthly payments.

**International students are required to purchase the SPSCC Firebird International Insurance Student Group Plan but students may request an exemption if their current insurance coverage meets the exemption policy. The mandatory international student health insurance requirement for international students may only be waived if you have comparable insurance that is valid in the U.S., or you are receiving health insurance benefits through a U.S employer.

To request this waiver, students are required to submit proof of personal health insurance every quarter by the tuition due date to International Student Services. To request a refund you must submit proof of acceptable personal health insurance by the first day of every quarter. The documents must be in English, and they must clearly state the following coverage levels:

  • Medical coverage per accident or sickness $500,000
  • Deductible per accident or sickness of no more than $100
  • Medical evacuation minimum of $50,000 or more
  • Repatriation coverage minimum $50,000 or more

SPSCC will not waive the health insurance requirement for any student with F-1 status if these requirements, deadlines, and coverage levels are not met each quarter.
