Artist Statement:

"I have been working in ceramic design for over 20 years. My lamp making skills came from working as a studio manager for the ceramic designer Christopher Spitzmiller based in NYC.  My modernist designs are steeped in an Arts and Crafts tradition gained from my studies during graduate school at Cranbrook Academy of Art and from my experience as an exhibition designer for Pewabic Pottery and The Norton Simon Museum of Art.  All the forms are originally hand thrown on a potter's wheel.  I select the best designs for reproduction using a plaster mold process.  The wood components are designed to fit the glazed ceramic forms seamlessly and are lathe turned using hand chisels and gouges.  The resulting lamps represent a culmination of my design experience and hands on approach to ceramic and woodworking knowledge. I am the sole designer and maker of this original functional artwork and I strive to make the highest quality lamps available for the purveyor of fine household decor."
