Statement
I approach art, in all forms, from a place of synergetic connection with the world around me, my perspective and inspired by emotions left unsaid. Whether it is writing, performance or painting I want a moment of introspection with my audience. The paintings within Face: Explorations of Identity and Personal Narrative are connected to memories, or family relationships I have not been able to express through writing. This means I am not only telling portions of my past, but through painting able to release my feelings or at least work through them in how I choose to express it. I discovered through these paintings, the more abstract the painting I was facing, the more connected I was to story.
