I was born in Michigan and travelled and worked in many states as an office administrator and writer. For several years I focused on landscape and botanical watercolor, studying under Hazel Foley in Montana. In 2007 I moved to Olympia, Washington near my daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons. After moving to Olympia, I experimented with digitally manipulated photography, creating abstract color forms. This spurred my interest in doing abstract painting and printmaking, my focus now. Nature, earth sciences and human experience influence my work. I am member of both Arts Olympia and Olympia Arts League and currently display paintings, prints and collage at Olympia Lamplighters in downtown Olympia. I’ve participated in showings by three Olympia art groups, as well as displaying a painting accepted in the 2022 Southwest Washington Regional and Juried Exhibition. I work in my studio in west Olympia.

I am an abstract painter and printmaker using acrylics. I monoprint on glass and gel plates. My prints are hand printed and not run through a press. Hand printing supports my imagination with a new freedom of exploration and spontaneity. My abstract paintings on canvas are an appreciation of movement and color. I am submitting three works to SPSCC. First, a found-paper collage photographed and printed on metal titled “Mobility.” The simple design and colors speak to the need for public transportation for people of physical or financial or age limitations. The contrast between the old building and the new signifies positive change and forward thinking.
