Northwest artist Susan Christian creates abstract and landscape paintings, employing a variety of material and a diverse visual vocabulary while balancing color and form.

Susan attended Cranbrook Academy of Art, and has taught at Evergreen, SPSCC, Centralia College and New England College in New Hampshire. She worked for many years as an art therapist at Washington Expressive Therapies Center in Olympia. Susan opened Salon ReFu, a unique project space and gallery that served as a creative hub for artists. She showcased music, fine art, poetry and workshops.

Christian is based in Oyster Bay near Olympia, Washington, where she converted an old oyster factory into her home and studio.

The works here came out of a studio on the edge of Totten Inlet, a site that has completely dominated my life and vision for 50 years.

The mountain, the old eyeful of Mount Rainier, does tend to dominate.

Everything moves.
