Statement
My work is shaped by the rhythm of my life between Korea and the United States. Moving between these two cultures has given me a unique perspective, and I explore that space through printmaking, collage, and mixed media. I am drawn to the dialogue between Eastern and Western aesthetics—how they contrast, overlap, and ultimately create new visual possibilities. Each piece reflects the contemporary world I live in, incorporating elements of tradition alongside modern influences. Through layering, texture, and the interplay of forms, I aim to create images that invite viewers to pause, reflect, and connect emotionally. Art, for me, is a way to provoke thought and offer healing. I hope my work becomes a quiet space where viewers can experience both introspection and a sense of calm, discovering their own meaning within the layers.
Bio
Jungho Kim received a degree in fine art from Hongik University and Graduate School in Korea and immigrated to Washington State, where she studied printmaking at the Pratt Fine Arts Center. Inspired by her frequent travels between Korea and the US, Jung’s work is a complex interplay of Eastern and Western aesthetics, incorporating elements that reflect the contemporary times in which she lives, and uses various print making and collage techniques to create her own unique, visual style. Through her art, she provokes thought, creates an emotional connection, and imparts a sense of healing.
