Statement
I combine the contemplative traditions of Oriental ink painting with modern design sensibilities, exploring the layered dimensions of memory and time. My work merges the resonance of ink and the aesthetics of emptiness with the language of digital art, creating spaces where stillness and tension, the familiar and the unfamiliar, coexist. Through these works, I transform fragments of memory and traces of time into reflective spaces that invite contemplation.
Bio
I received my B.F.A. and M.F.A. in Oriental painting from Ewha Womans University in Korea, then immigrated to Washington State, where I studied graphic design once again at the Art Institute of Seattle. These two backgrounds — traditional painting and commercial design — remain deeply embedded in how I see the world as a painter today. I quietly capture moments from daily life and nature, while carrying within them the passage of time and the afterimage of memory, offering the viewer room for reflection — a space where each person's own experience and emotion can be projected. For me, painting is a window: a tool made of various formal elements through which inspiration can unfold visually, and beyond which lies a new universe waiting to be met. In the end, my work is not simply a visual representation of composition and color, but a process where time and sensation are woven together, becoming a medium through which we come to face again the inner landscapes we had forgotten.
