  • Effectively, independently, and efficiently perform clinical services that may be performed by Expanded Function Dental Auxiliaries in Washington State (T, C)
  • Maintain safe environments in the dental setting by following state and federal standards, professional and ethical standards, and using effective communication
  • Measure, record, interpret, and report data in both clinical and office settings (C, Q)

  • EFDA State Licensure fee is $175
  • Washington State Restorative Exam (WARE) is $300
  • Western Regional Examining Board Restorative Exam (WREB) is $545

EFDA Graduation Process

Your Certificate of Achievement will be posted on your transcript after you've completing the program and have submitted the graduation application.

You can apply to graduate on the graduation webpage when you're two quarters away from graduating. Submit the application from our website when you are two quarters away from graduating. This is the only way to get your certificate posted on your transcript.

You will also need to print and keep this additional EFDA Certificate information with your Diploma. It outlines the classes you have taken to earn your Certificate.

DENT200 2cr Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary I
Introduces placement of amalgam and composite restorations and taking final impressions. Students begin placing amalgam and composite restorations on typodonts. Fees: $460.00 Dental Hygiene Course Fee; $20.00 Student MalPractice Insurance Fee

Quarter 2

DENT201 3cr Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary II
Covers pharmacology, emergency management, and root canal treatment as they pertain to Expanded Function Dental Auxiliaries and includes introductions to ethics, jurisprudence, and diversity as they pertain to health care workers. Students improve their skills placing fillings on typodonts and take final impressions on patients. Prerequisite: Successful completion of DENT 200. Fees: $265.00 Dental Hygiene Course Fee

Quarter 3

DENT202 4cr Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary III
Prepares students for the successful completion of the practical Western Regional Exam Board (WREB) exam and written Washington Restorative Exam (WARE) required for EFDA licensure. Students also place fillings on live patients under the supervision of their sponsoring dentists. Fees: $230.00 Dental Hygiene Course Fee
