The South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) Music Department will be performing three concerts featuring SPSCC students this winter at the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts Main Stage: Fall Jazz, Peace on Earth, and American Portraits.
First up, come share in the celebration of the end of the fall season with the SPSCC Jazz Band and Jazz Combo on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 7:30 p.m.
Next, the SPSCC Choirs return to the main stage on Friday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. for Peace on Earth, an evening of music celebrating peace and togetherness. This concert will feature works by Reena Esmail, Undine Smith Moore, Johann Michael Haydn, Johann Sebastian Bach, and John Lennon.
Finally, on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m., the SPSCC Symphony Orchestra, presents American Portraits. This concert will feature American music from a variety of viewpoints, including works by Louis Gottschalk, Richard Meyer, Austin Schlichting, and William Grant Still. The orchestra will also share the stage with the North Thurston High School Symphonic Orchestra under the direction of Rebecca Gage.
Admission for each concert is a suggested $15 donation at the door. Entrance is free to SPSCC students, staff, and faculty. The Music Department concerts are sponsored in part by R.L. Ray Violin Shop. More information is available on the college’s Arts & Entertainment webpage.
