What Lies Beneath: Photographs by Melinda Hurst Frye and Sculptures by Cyrra Robinson
October 7th – November 1st, 2019
Melinda Hurst Frye is a Seattle-based artist whose work and approach aim to create curious representations of the ecosystems of the Pacific Northwest through capturing images using both flatbed scanners and cameras in order to achieve a specific viewpoint, both technically and conceptually. Cyrra Robinson is an Olympia-based artist whose bronze and stone sculptures explore the spaces between the fantasy and reality of our natural world to discover and highlight where they most intersect.

Stay: New Work by Eun-Kyung Suh
November 11th – December 13th, 2019
Eun-Kyung Suh is a Full Professor of 3D art at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. Eun-Kyung Suh will present new work examining the cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic dissimilarities experienced by refugees and asylum seekers during the course of migration; from their departure to their destination. Suh’s sculptures symbolize barriers between the insiders and outsiders, using domestic materials suffused with meanings and consequences of migration or forced displacement.

9th Annual Fine Art Postcard Exhibition “POWER TOOLS”
January 10 – February 7, 2020
The Fine Art Postcard Exhibition is an annual event that brings the local creative community together under one theme. The 2020 theme is “POWER TOOLS”. Postcard sized original artworks, created by artists of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, will be sold through silent auction. Proceeds from this fundraiser benefit The Gallery. All are invited to join the creative celebration!

The exhibition will highlight work by Native artists, adult and youth from local and regional tribes, and Native artists from other locations who now live in the area.

The SPSCC annual Student Art Exhibition showcases exceptional talent chosen by the college's art faculty from the creative endeavors of students in studio art classes throughout the 2019-20 academic year. This diverse exhibition encompasses a range of mediums, including ceramics, drawing, painting, printmaking, digital photography, mixed-media, as well as 2D and 3D design explorations, and sculpture.
