The Leonor R. Fuller Gallery Committee and I are grateful to all of the artists who rose up to a call for art in these difficult and trying times. The 2020 Southwest WA Regional Exhibition was like no other in the history of the Leonor R. Fuller Gallery, now in its 15th year.  The COVID-19 Pandemic propelled the gallery’s exhibitions and receptions to an online virtual platform. Despite the onset of a global pandemic, artists came forward to share their inspirations, becoming the largest showcasing of the region’s artists at the Leo Fuller Gallery. This year’s exhibition reveals the deep resiliency of artists and the celebratory power of art to bring people together through adversity.

The Southwest Washington Juried Exhibition celebrates regional artists and awards artistic excellence. Invitation to submit was extended to artists working in all media and residing in Clark, Cowlitz, Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, Pierce, Skamania, Thurston, and Wahkiakum counties. The annual exhibition draws a healthy response from the community, this year 70 works were selected from among 39 entries. Of the works included in the exhibition, four artists were given Merit Awards. These award-winning artists were invited back to exhibit together at the Juror’s Invitational in 2021.

The exhibition was made possible through a variety of on and off campus contributors. Many thanks to all who have contributed their time, talent, and resources.

Production of this catalog was made possible through the sponsorship of April Works. April’s generosity has allowed every submitting artist to receive a copy, each copy serving as a powerful reminder of the region’s creative spirit.
