Artist Statement: Creativity has always been in my spirit. Cultural contemporary creativity drives my innovative native artistic spirit. I am grounded in tradition and culture therefore, I can bridge build beyond a perceived indigenous spirit of creativity. I live where tradition and contemporary indigenous culture nurture each other to understand, and inspire creative life and contemporary artistic expressive language.
Bio: People of the Great Hill I am, aka Seneca; Deer clan, I am My home community is the Tonawanda Seneca Nation, Tonawanda is part of the Six Nations Iroquois Confederacy. I attended the Rochester Institute of Technology for a BFA in Industrial Design and Fine Art, and managed a 2-Dimensional and a 3-Dimensional AFA degree from the Institute of American Indian Arts, Santa Fe, New Mexico. I am a multi-disciplinary contemporary artists, designer, contemporary Native art curator, and indigenous arts manager, my arts foundation is in my Onondowaga traditional arts. My applied artistic statement is conveyed through contemporary artistic expression. My artistic experience includes printmaking, painting, pottery, traditional beaded jewelry and contemporary jewelry, 3-dimensional arts, sculpture and glass. My arts background includes Industrial design, graphic design, arts administration and contemporary Indigenous art curation. I have co-curated contemporary Hodinohso:ni’ art exhibits and International Indigenous contemporary art exhibits. I have authored articles on Hodinohso:ni’ social dance traditions, served as a grant reviewer for national, regional and state arts organizations. I founded and directed the Cultural Retention Program in my Tonawanda Seneca home community.
