Staff and Faculty Computers

All staff and faculty whose position requires the use of a college computer will be furnished with one from IT Services. The college provides faculty and staff equipment from a centralized technology fund with the understanding that different jobs and disciplines may have different computer requirements. If a business case is presented that warrants the extra technology beyond the current campus standard, then IT will provide the needed equipment.

Computers for New Employees

New employees are provided standard college computers unless otherwise specified by their supervisor. Please refer to the Technologies for New Employees page for details on how to request technologies through the new employee on-boarding process.

Staff and Faculty Computer Replacements

Faculty and Staff computers are replaced on a 5-year schedule based on the original purchase year, and monitors are replaced on a roughly 7-year schedule based on the original purchase year. Technology requested or required in addition to the standard below will be required to submit a business case to their supervisor and IT, justifying the additional cost.

Faculty and staff who are due for replacement of their primary computer will be notified by IT to schedule replacement date and time. All non-primary computers assigned to an employee will be required to be replaced after 7 years and those replacements will be paid from the employee's departmental budget.

Computers for Separated Employees

Once an employee has been identified as separating from the college, HR will notify IT who will ensure the hardware is accounted for, the data secured, and the hardware moved back into the faculty/staff pool of available equipment.
