Computers Assigned to New Staff or Faculty

New employees who require the use of a computer will be furnished with one from the college via the Faculty/Staff computer pool that is managed by IT Services.

  • At the point of hire, Human Resources Staff will contact IT with new hire information including office location, supervisor and start date.
  • IT staff will contact the supervisor to determine specific details or needs for the new employee. This will include details such as fileshare needs, phone setup and access requirements.
  • IT will provision and install new the new computer based on the information provided by the supervisor prior to the identified start date.

Computer Replacements

Faculty and Staff computers are replaced on a 5-year schedule based on the original purchase year, and monitors are replaced on a roughly 7-year schedule based on the original purchase year. These replacement processes are managed by IT Services and are centrally funded. Technology requested or required in addition to one of the standards below will be charged to departmental budgets but these computers remain under the management of the central computer replacement pool.

Faculty and staff who are due for replacement will be notified by IT when they are up for renewal to schedule replacement time. If a staff member has a second computer assigned to them, this computer will be required to be replaced after 7 years and will be paid for from the employee's departmental budget.

Computers for Separated Employees

Once an employee has been identified as separating from the college, HR will notify IT who will ensure the hardware is accounted for, the data secured, and the hardware moved back into the faculty/staff pool of available equipment.
