Artist Statement:

All of my printmaking projects were created on site at SPSCC community college I was grateful to the staff that offered studio time for printmaking students! This piece titled “Twirl from Above” started as every geometric and ridge piece drafted with color pencils (see fig. A). However, my test block carving did not create the same feeling as my draft drawings and all thought I had sense of the colors I wanted to use they also lack harmony.

Influences: My influences for this piece were first inspired by the colors my classmates were mixing for their prints which got me experimenting with which colors to use and mix.

Inspirations: My inspiration after my first cut to block dresses of Mexican art and tradition of Ballet Folklórico.

Materials and Process: A single 8x10 linoleum block and 6 colors water soluble ink block print ink. This is 4-layer reductive print.
