NOTICE: From April 21 to May 9, 2025, the Assessment Center will be upgrading our testing computers. During this time, we cannot schedule the following exams: GED, ASE, CLEP, CASAS, and WSDA METRO. We are still able to process placement from documents and provide the following exams: Guided Self-Placement, ACCUPLACER, WAMAP, and OFTEC. Outside and accommodated testing are on a case-by-case basis, depending on what is needed for proctoring the exam(s).
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience as we work to bring you improved service. As soon as systems are installed, tested, and ready, all exams will be available. You can start checking online for availability beginning May 5, 2025.
If you have any questions, please contact assessment@spscc.edu or call 360-596-5770.
Options for Placement
Before registering for classes, new students need to be placed at the English and math level that works best for you. There are three ways that SPSCC helps you get placed at the right level: document review, Guided Self Placement, and testing.
Plan to use just one method for each English and math placement.
Join us for a Next Steps session or email us at assessment@spscc.edu.
Document Review
The best and simplest way to get placed at the right level is to let us assess work you’ve already done. Our assessment team can determine your placement by reviewing your recent high school or college transcripts, or recent test scores such as SAT, ACT, AP, IB, CI or SBA.
Read below for more detailed information about the types of documents we can accept for placement. We can use unofficial copies to place you!
To submit documents for placement review, please fill out and attach your documents to the Placement Request Form. If you have not applied to SPSCC and activated your student accounts, follow the Steps to Enroll first. Please allow up to five business days for processing. You will receive a message in your Compass account once placement is determined.
